There are many ways to step into reciprocity with the land and this community project: time, sweat equity (labour and skills), monetary or non-monetary contributions.

Reciprocity

TIME/LABOUR

We acknowledge and honour that when Villagers and members are on the land, they are the working labour bodies that maintain and breathe life into our village. Everyone strives within their means and capacity to step into meaningful reciprocity with autonomy, care and grace for self and others. We request that Villagers and guests contribute a minimum of 1-2 hours per day or 5-10 hours per week towards labour support of the commons. Nobody will be counting or keeping track, and each person is autonomous to decide when/how/where they do their work. There is a never-ending list of ways to be in land-care and daily commons support that can fit all experiences and means. We also welcome proposals for folks who would like to lead tasks or projects.

As of 2026, our 12 RR members VOLUNTEER a combined total of approximately 4000 to 5000 human labour hours per year (physical, mental, relational). This does not include the additional labour hours contributed by our Seasonal Villagers, which we would tally and include in 2026.

MONEY

Towards financial transparency, we aim to practice a solidarity economics where folks contribute to their capacity and ability without impeding access while collectively adjusting to meet the financial cost and realities of this epic project. As of 2026, each of our 12 RR members contribute an approximate average of $3000.00 each per year towards camp operations and capital project costs.

A more detailed description of RR financial dues, sweat equity contributions and decision making process will be in the Living Agreements document.

A word about financial contributions:

We still live in a capitalist world and as much as we strive for relationships that are transformational rather than transactional, our project is still subject to costs - from the capital cost of the land purchase to daily camp and operations costs. That said, below is a suggested sliding scale of how a Villager may contribute, and each one of you will propose back to us what works for you based on your own economic realities. Re-iterating, that no one will be barred for lack of funds. We hope to meet each of you through dialogue and understanding so we may come to a mutuality that works for all.

Seasonal Villager $1000 - $3000+

Short Term Villager $300 - $1000+

Guests may contribute $$ if it feels relevant and fair within their means and the context of their visit and invitation.
